URTH Filter Kits 

INTRODUCTION

We’ve been using URTH Filters (formerly Gobe Filters) for quite a while now and love their quality, price, and contribution to the environment through tree planting in some of the world’s most deforested regions.

In addition to their range of circular screw-in filters, they have released a 75mm and 100mm Square Filter Holder, Square Filters, and Special Effects filters, as well as the Arkose & Norite modular backpack camera bags, Core & Mantle camera straps, and more.

URTH also produces some very practical Circular screw-in and Magnetic Filter Kits, particularly useful for photographers of all levels. The majority of these kits are Plus quality levels (see further down for an explanation of the quality levels). At the time of writing, they do not offer any Square Filter Kits but the Square Filter Holders and Square Filters can be bought individually.

In this post, we will highlight all the different filter kits available and what the filters are best used for.

Just a couple of things to keep in mind before purchasing the filter kits –

• If the filter kit already includes a UV filter and you own several lenses then you will need to purchase extra UV filters in addition to the filter kit. Although it is a good idea to use a step-up ring for speciality filters such as C-PL (circular polarizer) filters, or ND (neutral density) filters, we suggest you purchase a UV filter for each lens you own.
• It may not be practical to purchase a filter kit for every lens thread you have. If you own several lenses with different threads we suggest you purchase a cheap step-up adapter ring to fit your largest thread size. This way you can use the larger filter on all your lenses. For example, if your largest lens thread size is 77mm, purchase the 77mm filter kit and a 72-77 step-up adapter ring if your other lens has a 72mm thread.
• When using circular screw-in filters try not to stack them in front of wide-angle lenses. For example, if attaching a C-PL (circular polarizer) filter, remove any other circular screw-in filter attached to the lens. If unavoidable, check if the stacked filters are causing significant vignetting in the corners. Most  URTH filters are slim rims, so you may be OK.

There are currently 8 different URTH filter kits available. Unlike the discontinued Gobe range, which had 3 quality levels of filters – 1 Peak, 2 Peak, and 3 Peak, the URTH range is categorised as URTH or URTH Plus. Both offer great quality at different degrees, with the URTH Plus being the highest quality. Choose the range according to your budget. In October 2025, they introduced a limited range of Pro Filters (USA & Europe – other regions will be introduced in early 2026), which are another step up in quality; however, we have not tested these yet.

URTH – made from premium Japanese AGC optical glass that is coated with an 8-layer nano-coating for better sharpness, added protection, and easier cleaning. The ultra-slim rim avoids vignetting and the durable magnalium is guaranteed for life. The filters are double-threaded for stacking filters (although we don’t recommend stacking circular filters) or using screw-mount lens caps. The packaging for these is the familiar beige/brown colour.

URTH Plus+ – made from premium German SCHOTT B270 glass and coated with a 20-layer nano-coating for better sharpness, added protection, and easier cleaning. The UV Plus+ filters have 30 layers of nano-coating. They have an ultra-slim rim to avoid vignetting and durability that’s guaranteed for life. The filters are double-threaded for stacking filters (although we don’t recommend stacking circular filters) or for storing in the screw-mount lens caps. The packaging for these is grey.

QUALITY LEVELS

All filter kits also include a Microfibre Cleaning Cloth and screw-mount Lens Filter Metal Caps (see image above) that connect to both ends of the filters making it a secure and compact way to carry all your URTH filters. The best thing since sliced bread in our opinion

CONCLUSION

URTH Filter Kits are a great way to get all the filters at once rather than paying for individual filters. The only caveat is that some filters in a kit might not be the ones you use, so it may be better to buy the filters you need separately.

We use URTH Filters on most of our lenses. They have all performed beyond our expectations compared to other brands we have used.
