North Vietnam, 1995. This is a blast from the past

North Vietnam, 1995. This is a blast from the past! We spent 6 weeks in Vietnam in 1994 and another 6 weeks in 1995. This was a wild and woolly outpost taken in the mountains on the way to Dien Bien Phu in the west of North Vietnam. Back in those days, there were very few places that travellers were allowed to stay and while everyone usually headed to Sapa in the north-west we wanted to visit the battlefield at Dien Bien Phu where the Vietnamese army had a historic victory over the French in 1954 which ultimately led to the French leaving Vietnam. Best choice we ever made. We captured a lot of unforgettable images.⁠

Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney - Australia. This fantastic spiral staircase leads down to the Tank. It's pretty dark down there so this was shot at ISO25600 and processed in Topaz DeNoise and Lightroom. This was also shot in portrait orientation on the Samyang 12mm f2.8 fisheye lens so it had to be cropped for Instagram.⁠
